Since January 1, I have been grappling with every single branch of community services in Sarnia, Ontario, only to find a dead end every single time. Children services, Ontario Works branches, community organizations, homelessness prevention, healthcare, and counselling - all seem to be operating at full capacity. Even the availability of police officers who are women, legal aid, and lawyers is limited. The only women's shelter, The Women's Interval Home, is full. I stand frustrated and trapped, experiencing the entire system after a long battle of recovery to never having to deal with it again in my life. It feels like there are no resources to help any of us, leaving many of us stuck in our situations.
